After three forgettable seasons with the New York Jets, after the storied franchise selected him No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, quarterback Zach Wilson has a chance at a fresh start following the trade that sent him to the Denver Broncos to play for head coach Sean Payton.
Unfortunately for Wilson, he may never see the field in the Mile High City, with the Broncos currently having rookie Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham ahead of him on the depth chart this summer.
Although Wilson desperately wanted to leave New York, he was traded very late in the process, when teams had already secured their starting job under center with a returning player or someone signed in free agency.
As for the Broncos, Stidham was thought to be the starter moving forward after the team released veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, but now Nix’s presence complicates things a bit, as the rookie could be the starter come Week 1 on the road against the Seattle Seahawks in September.
However, Wilson seems to be happy where he’s at, as he claims it’s “awesome” to be in Denver with the Broncos moving forward, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR.

With Nix being a rookie and Stidham being an inconsistent player when he has been a starter in this league, Wilson might still have a shot to get some snaps down the road in Denver, as there’s no telling what will happen at the quarterback position.
As of right now, Wilson seems to be more of an emergency third-string backup, but that seems to be just fine for the BYU star.
