Marcedes Lewis is officially a free agent, after finishing his contract with the Green Bay Packers.
Lewis is a 17-year NFL vet, spending his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Packers.
Despite being 39 years old, Lewis has recently expressed that he would like to play at least one more season.
In a conversation with the Associated Press via the NFL’s website, Lewis said, “If you just look at my film from the last three years, there’s no decline in what I’m able to do.”

Lewis doubled down on his statement, saying, “I’m the best blocking tight end out there.”
During his time with the Packers, Lewis was affectionately known as “big dog,” a term that Aaron Rodgers frequently called him.
This public acknowledgment has been great for Lewis, bringing light to a style of play that isn’t always highlighted.
Tight ends like Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews are lauded for their offensive production, given their amount of targets, yards, and touchdowns.
However, Lewis believes that, while he isn’t necessarily the pass-catcher that Kelce and Andrews are, his role is essential to a team.
By having a tight end like Lewis block for an offense, they’re able to continue to establish the run and allow the rest of the skill-position players to thrive.
Being that Lewis is a free agent, he can sign with any team that he likes, assuming a contract can get put in place.
