The Philadelphia 76ers fell short of their goal again this season.
Joel Embiid’s health and conditioning stood in their way again, and it was starting to become painfully evident that they needed another star.
That’s why they’re reportedly set to be one of the most aggressive teams in the offseason to land a new sidekick for Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
According to a report by Sixers insider Keith Pompey, they’ll pursue a ‘max salary player’ from a pool that includes the likes of Paul George, LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, and Brandon Ingram (via Legion Hoops).

The Sixers have been tied to multiple star players over the past couple of weeks.
They have enough cap space and draft assets to get it done after trading James Harden, and with Tobias Harris and potentially Kelly Oubre Jr. off their books, they could be in a solid position to make a run.
Paul George will reportedly opt out of his contract and become a free agent after the Los Angeles Clippers refused to meet his salary demands, so he’s likely going to be their primary target.
Brandon Ingram could be the ‘easiest’ one to get, given his status with the New Orleans Pelicans and his profile being lower than the other players.
As for LeBron James and Jimmy Butler, things might get a little trickier, with the former unlikely to switch teams at this point in his career, and the other having to be traded back to Philadelphia to get reunited with Embiid.
