The Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals but for a brief moment, it looked like they were going to lose.
Even Celtics legend and diehard fan Paul Pierce felt that the Celtics nearly lost.
“I’m not going to lie, I thought it was over,” Pierce said on “Undisputed.”
He added, “I hope this woke up Boston.”

Pierce said he was convinced Boston wasn’t going to win with just 27 seconds left in the game.
The Pacers had a small lead but were in control until they suddenly weren’t.
Tyrese Haliburton was unexpectedly clumsy with the ball and the Pacers practically gave it away to the Celtics.
That led to a crucial three-pointer from Jaylen Brown that tied the game and sent it into overtime.
In that five-minute overtime period, the Celtics were able to get their acts together and pull out a victory.
Pacers fans are hoping that their team is able to repeat their competitiveness for Game 2 but they also hope they can actually hold onto the lead instead of giving it up.
And Celtics fans are hopeful that Pierce is right and the closeness of Game 1 will act as a wake-up call for Boston and they will play much better.
Most analysts thought that Boston would have a handle on this series from beginning to end but this first performance proves that might not be the case.
Now everyone is wondering what Game 2 will look like.
Will it remain very close or will one team learn from their mistakes and take control of the series?
