The Denver Nuggets got a huge win on Wednesday night.

By taking down the Minnesota Timberwolves, they’re now almost a lock to run away with the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference again.

That’s remarkable if you consider the fact that the Nuggets weren’t that close to the No. 1 seed in the first half of the season and how well the Timberwolves have played this year.

Nonetheless, despite their solid play, Craig Carton believes there’s only one other team that could take the Nuggets down in the Western Conference, and that’s the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Talking on The Carton Show, the sports analysts stated that even though no one seems to be paying attention to the Thunder, they’ve been no worse than the No. 3 seed the entire season, they’ve been consistent, and they’re a tough team to beat.

Can anyone challenge the Nuggets in the West?

Carton believes people should give the Thunder more attention, as no one talks about any of their players except for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

He does have a valid point there.

The Thunder are clearly ahead of schedule and look like a team that could be very good for many years.

They’re still seemingly one piece away from being an NBA championship contender, and youth can always backfire in the playoffs.

But they have more than enough talent and are properly coached, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see them make a deep postseason run as well.

If anything, Mark Daigneault’s team should approach the playoffs with nothing to lose, knowing that they have enough money and draft picks to add whichever need gets exposed in the playoffs.
