It’s been weeks since the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in the hunt for a new coach.

There have been multiple reports about Kenny Atkinson being a strong candidate, while most rumors state that James Borrego is actually leading the race.

Nonetheless, we’ve had nothing but rumors to this point, and the fans are starting to get a little anxious, as the offseason and the NBA Draft are just around the corner.

Notably, that includes Tony Rizzo of ESPN Cleveland, who recently questioned the hold-up and what was going on.

He doesn’t know why they haven’t sealed the deal with either of those candidates if they liked him, questioning whether there was something else going on that they didn’t know about.

With that in mind, co-host Aaron Goldhammer stated that perhaps the hold-up was due to the fact that they wouldn’t hire either of those candidates.

If that’s the case, then it’s hard to think of someone else that could be on their shortlist.

Also, they must act quickly, as Borrego is also reportedly on the Los Angeles Lakers’ shortlist.

The Lakers reportedly favor JJ Redick over Borrego, but they shouldn’t even take that chance in Cleveland then.

The Cavs must address several issues with their roster in the offseason, and that might include making some big trades.

And with Donovan Mitchell’s contract extension also looming large, it just feels like the Cavaliers can’t afford to waste any more time before giving someone the keys to the ignition.
