The Boston Celtics have had an easier path to the NBA Finals.
All of their postseason opponents were decimated by injuries.
Of course, you can only play whoever’s in front of you, and that shouldn’t make what they’ve been able to do any less impressive.
Nonetheless, they will have to step up in the NBA Finals.
The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the best teams in the league since the All-Star break, and they’re a finely tuned machine that’s operating at a high level on both ends of the floor.
More than that, former NFL star Plaxico Burress believes they actually have the best roster, at least when it comes to the starting five.
“The Dallas Mavericks are better at every single position.”

Talking on The Carton Show, he claimed that the Mavericks were better than the Celtics at every position if you matched them up one-on-one.
Needless to say, that’s a bit of a stretch, as Jayson Tatum is clearly a better player than Derrick Jones Jr., for example.
Whatever the case, it’s a fact that the Mavericks will be the best opponent they have to face.
Jason Kidd’s squad is stout on defense and has two of the best scorers this game has ever seen leading the way out of the backcourt, not to mention the undisputed best player in the series.
The Celtics are overwhelming betting favorites ahead of the start of Game 1, and while they should be favored by most accounts, perhaps the gap isn’t as wide as oddsmakers want to make it seem.
