The Carolina Panthers need to make the most of their most valuable asset.
They gave up a lot to land Bryce Young, and the early returns weren’t encouraging.
Of course, it’s never wise to count out a quarterback after a bad rookie season, and it’s not like he had a lot to work with.
Still, given all the doubts and concerns about his size — or lack thereof — it seems like he won’t have the benefit of the doubt or a long leash like other young quarterbacks.
With that in mind, former Panthers star Cam Newton gave him a piece of advice.
Talking to Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay’s show, the former MVP stated that it’s important for Young — or any other quarterback — to voice his opinion.

He believes that he has to have answers for some of the questions offensive coordinators ask every quarterback, such as who he wants to throw the football to in key situations, or even have a bit of an input on the players the team drafts.
Young didn’t seem like the most outspoken person during his first year, which is normal, given that he’s a rookie.
But being more assertive could lead to being more comfortable on the field, and a comfortable quarterback is a good quarterback.
Young showed flashes of greatness during his days with the Alabama Crimson Tide, and he’ll now have a new offensive mind to work with in Dave Canales.
Hopefully, he’ll also take more ownership of the team, as they should be ready to give him the keys to the franchise.
