The Minnesota Timberwolves were up by 18 points on the Dallas Mavericks at one point in game 2.
Now, they’re down 0-2.
Chris Finch’s team collapsed late in the second half again, with Kyrie Irving catching fire in the fourth quarter and Dereck Lively manhandling Rudy Gobert above the rim over and over.
Anthony Edwards barely took a shot in the second half and kept struggling with his shot, and Karl-Anthony Towns wasn’t even on the floor for most of the 4th quarter.
Even so, despite that collapse, they still had a chance to win the game.
However, they allowed Rudy Gobert to get paired with Doncic up two points, and everybody in the arena and watching at home knew they were in trouble.
That’s why, following the game, Charles Barkley criticized the Timberwolves’ decision-making for even allowing that to happen.
He said that every time a guard gets matched up with a big out there is ‘bbq chicken’ (via NBA on TNT).
“When you put that big guy out there against a guard it’s BBQ chicken.”

Truth be told, it was a questionable decision, to say the least.
Doncic is one of the best scorers on the planet, and he’s always going to have an edge over a guy like Gobert if they’re dancing around on the perimeter.
The Timberwolves did everything they possibly could to lose this game, and they now have their backs against the wall.
And while Doncic clearly deserves all the credit in the world for knocking down that big shot, the fact of the matter is that Gobert should’ve never been there to begin with.
