During the 2023-24 NBA regular season, no team in the league was able to accomplish what the new-look Boston Celtics were able to, as head coach Joe Mazzulla was able to motivate and lead his squad to a league-best 64 wins.
Ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, the Celtics made some bold moves, bringing in veteran forward Kristaps Porzingis and eventually acquiring arguably the best defender at the guard position, Jrue Holiday.
The addition of these two savvy veterans was thought to be a game-changer for the Celtics, and that is precisely what it turned out to be, with both players making an impact throughout the season, helping the team get to 64 wins and lock up the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
As if the regular-season performance by Boston wasn’t impressive enough, the Celtics took it to another level once the NBA playoffs got underway, as they got through the first three rounds with only two losses.
Even though the Celtics lost one game to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, Boston dominated Jason Kidd’s squad, capping off an incredible season with an NBA record 18th title.
Chris Broussard of FOX Sports argues that this season was one of the most dominant the league has ever seen via First Things First.
“This was one of the most dominant seasons in NBA history,” Broussard said.

With 64 regular-season wins and only three losses in the postseason leading to an NBA title, Broussard is right on the money in his assessment of the Celtics’ run.
Boston now has a chance to go back-to-back, and the team could have a shot of pulling it off as long as they keep this unit intact.
