The Cleveland Cavaliers fired head coach J.B. Bickerstaff Thursday morning and immediately got to work at finding a replacement for him.

It has only been a few hours but a number of names have already been thrown around as a possible new coach.

According to Sam Amico, via NBACentral, both Frank Vogel and Terry Stotts are now on the radar for the Cavaliers.

Vogel is coming off of his one and only season with the Phoenix Suns, where he earned a 49-33 record but saw his Suns get swept in the opening round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He was quickly let go by Phoenix but most people assumed that he’d find a new job in the league soon.

He would bring a lot to the Cavaliers, particularly his celebrated defensive plans.

As for Stotts, we last saw him during his very brief stint as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks last summer.

His time in Milwaukee didn’t last long and he has been out of the limelight since.

Before that, he was head coach for the Atlanta Hawks, Bucks, and then Portland Trail Blazers for nine seasons.

He hasn’t been a head coach since 2021 but he’s a well-respected leader and he knows the game incredibly well.

Stotts also has the ability to work with both new players and veterans, which could come in handy in Cleveland.

The Cavaliers will take their time and consider multiple options when it comes to Bickerstaff’s replacement.

There have been names mentioned before Vogel and Stotts and more are likely on the way.

The fact that multiple candidates have already popped up shows just how seriously the Cavaliers are taking this search.
