The Cleveland Cavaliers decided they had enough of head coach J.B. Bickerstaff on Thursday morning and announced his firing after another lackluster run in the playoffs.

On Thursday’s “Undisputed,” Keyshawn Johnson spoke about the firing and the ruthless nature of the NBA.

“Man, this league is crazy. They just fire coaches like they’re throwaways,” Johnson said.

He said that Bickerstaff was selfless and put the team ahead of himself but it still wasn’t enough for the front office.

He also said that the team could end up regretting this move.

Inside reports have said Bickerstaff was let go because the team feels that’s the best way to retrain Donovan Mitchell and sign him to a contract extension this summer.

However, Johnson warned that they still might lose Mitchell, which means they would have fired Bickerstaff for nothing.

That isn’t smart, Johnson said, because Bickerstaff actually did a good job leading the Cavaliers and gave them an admirable record, especially while battling so many injuries to the roster.

Johnson is right when he said the NBA can be quite brutal with coaches.

There are a number of coaches who were recently let go from their positions and several teams are searching for replacements right now.

Every head coach has to meet high expectations or they’ll find themselves on the hot seat.

Although head coaches are thrown out of their jobs at a surprising rate this time of year, they are also almost always able to find a new position in the league.

That means that even though Bickerstaff is jobless now, he will probably find a new role within the NBA soon.
