On March 15 of this year, LA Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald announced his retirement.

In 10 seasons, Donald was a Super Bowl champion, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, 10-time Pro Bowler, and eight-time All-Pro.

He has also been selected as a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team.

Needless to say, the Rams are going to have a difficult time replacing a legend.

Recently, several current and former Rams sent Donald a tribute video thanking him for his play on the field as well as his character off it.

Current LA quarterback Matthew Stafford told Donald, “It was such an honor to share the field with you. It was a whole lot better when I was on your side of things.”

Stafford was initially a member of the Detroit Lions and played against Donald for several years.

In 2021, he signed with LA and he and Donald won Super Bowl LVI together after the season.

Michael Brockers said Donald was a mentor to him in more ways than one.

“I’ve been looking up to you for many years. Your game, your play, even how you interact with your family, dog, I look up to that.”

A few team legends such as Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce and Eric Dickerson chimed in.

“The Rams are going to miss you. I’m going to miss watching you play myself,” said Dickerson. “But you brought us great joy.”

In an effort to replicate Donald’s production, the Rams drafted Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse as well as Verse’s college teammate defensive tackle Braden Fiske in the first and second rounds respectively.
