The New Orleans Pelicans didn’t even blink when they got the chance to draft Zion Williamson; there was no reason to doubt or hesitate.
The undisputed No. 1 pick took his talents to the Big Easy, and while he hasn’t been on the court as often as they would like, most of their project’s hopes still hang on his shoulders.
That’s why the team took to Twitter to give him some love as he celebrates his 23rd birthday.

Notably, Zion and his team have been tangled up in a lot of rumors as of late.
The word around the league was that the Pelicans were looking forward to trading him before the NBA Draft, most likely to get Scoot Henderson.
Obviously, that didn’t happen, but there has been a lot of chatter about him not being fully committed to the organization and not being close to his teammates.
Zion has been spectacular to watch when he’s been on the floor, but that hasn’t happened in quite a while now.
He’s played in less than 50% of the games since he entered the league, and some believe he’s never going to be healthy enough to play for a full season, especially if he doesn’t lose some weight.
He is a unique talent with the skill set to be one of the most dominant forces this game has ever seen, and he’s not even close to his prime yet.
Now, whether he’ll be able to fulfill his destiny as a future NBA superstar or not is still a big question.
