The conference finals are officially underway in the NBA.
The two Western Conference finalists are the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the representatives from the East are the Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics.
Boston was the favorite to win the NBA Finals heading into the playoffs, but a few people had high hopes for the Pacers.
The Pacers were fresh off an emotional series win over the New York Knicks, a team that many analysts had as a dark horse to win it all.
While optimism about the Pacers heading into the Eastern Conference Finals might have existed, it has quickly faded.
The Pacers lost Game 2 by 16 points, giving the Celtics a commanding 2-0 series lead.
After seeing this loss, in a recent segment of his show, Craig Carton said, “It’s over. It’s a wrap. It’s a sweep. The Indiana Pacers quit.”

Carton believes that not only did the Pacers lose this game, but they gave up after the Celtics got out to a big lead.
It didn’t help that star player Tyrese Haliburton missed the entire fourth quarter due to injury, but Carton’s point still stands.
Pascal Siakam did what he could to put the team on his back, but a 28-point effort from him wasn’t enough for the Pacers to win this game.
It will be interesting to see what happens in Game 3 when the Pacers are at home.
Can they find a way to recapture the magic they found against the Knicks?
Otherwise, this could very easily be a sweep, as Carton mentions.
